Dobler Hose to Build New Fire Station The A.F. Dobler Hose & Ladder Company (Girard Fire Department) is currently in the final design stages for a new fire station to be built on Walnut Street in Girard Borough. The current station was built in 1950 and is approximately 6100 Square Feet and does not provide enough space to accommodate the current or future equipment needs. The fire department is working with Building Systems Incorporated on the final design for the 10,000 square foot facility and the building site plan has been completed by Rabell Engineering. Site preparation will begin in September with building construction scheduled to start in March of 2008. The cost of the facility is projected to be $1,000,000 and includes four drive through apparatus bays, a training room, and department offices. The fire department will need community support and financial assistance from federal and/or state grants to complete construction. The fire department is selling memorial bricks for $50 each, which will be placed in a memorial display adjacent to the new fire station. Building donations and memorial brick requests may be sent to: A.F. Dobler Hose and Ladder Company Any group that would like a presentation or anyone wishing more information on how they may assist the department in reaching its goal may contact: Roger Schultz
